Ship Battle Forces.
This force is for the Ballistic Missile Submarines (SSBNs). The deterrent of war has been the sole
mission and fundamental reason for the existance of the fleet ballistic missile submarine since its
inception in 1960. This is among the navy's highest priority programs and is the cornerstone of
the national security policy functioning as the most survivable and enduring leg of the strategic
deterrent triad.
